Homestay booking site: a proper front door for small accommodation
Small homestays run their whole booking flow through WhatsApp and Facebook messages. It works, until it does not. This template gives them a real website without a booking engine they will never learn to use.
Room gallery with the booking enquiry card pinned on the right.
The problem
A homestay owner with three rooms does not need a property management system. They need three things:
- A page that shows the place properly. Photos, rooms, what is nearby, how to get there.
- A way for guests to ask about dates. Without forcing them to create an account first.
- Something they can run themselves. If updating a price requires a developer, the site will go stale within a month.
What they usually get instead is either nothing, or a Facebook page buried under algorithm changes.
What the template does
- Photo led hero with the property name, location, and a direct enquiry button
- Room gallery with capacity, amenities, and nightly rate per room type
- Location section with map link and driving directions
- Nearby attractions, which is what guests actually search for
- Booking enquiry that hands off to WhatsApp with the dates and room already filled into the message
- Mobile first layout, since almost all traffic arrives from a phone
Why WhatsApp instead of a payment gateway
This is a deliberate choice, not a shortcut.
Adding card payments means a merchant account, a payment gateway integration, refund handling, and a dispute process. For a three room homestay taking a handful of bookings a week, that overhead costs more than it earns. Worse, an online payment flow sets an expectation of instant confirmation, which a small property cannot always honour.
The WhatsApp handoff does something smarter: the guest taps a button, a message opens with their dates and chosen room pre written, and the owner replies when they are free. The guest gets a human answer. The owner keeps control of availability. No payment fees, no failed transactions, no refund disputes.
If the property grows past the point where manual replies become a burden, the template has room to add a real booking engine later. Starting simple is not a limitation, it is sequencing.
Performance approach
The whole site is a single HTML page with inlined critical styles and no framework. No jQuery, no build step, no third party scripts. Images are lazy loaded below the fold. The result loads in well under a second on a mobile connection, which matters because a guest browsing homestays on hotel wifi will leave if the page stalls.
Hosting is static on Cloudflare, so there is no server to scale and no uptime to monitor. The monthly cost of running this site is effectively zero beyond the domain.
What it is not
This is a template, not a live client deployment. It exists to show the approach: a fast, self maintainable site that funnels enquiries to a channel the owner already uses every day.
A real project would add the property's own photography, actual room inventory, their own domain, and a short handover session so they can update prices themselves.
